When I booked Leanne & Shaun in for their wedding photography, as my very first wedding of 2014, I began to prepare myself for snow, weather affecting the photography and contingency planning. We set about making a truly beautiful set of engagement pictures on a very early winter morning before Christmas at Blyth Beach.
When the 12th rolled around, I was amazed to see we hadn’t had a snowflake fall, nor would ice be an issue. I had a wonderfully beautiful drive up to Doxford Hall in Alnwick. 3 Pheasants, 4 bunnies, and many birds were spotted (no photographs taken though unfortunately).
On my way into see Leanne getting ready I passed a nervous looking Shaun waiting in the bar with friends. Leanne and all the girls getting ready together were a mix of nerves, emotions and giggles.
A little extra gift from Shaun…..
Once Leanne was dressed, friend Tracy who had flown in from Cyprus gave a gorgeous gift. Leanne’s Dad passed away, Tracy made sure a little memory of him would be with his daughter in an angel feather charm. Leanne wore this on her dress for the rest of the day. She just told me that Shaun recently treated her to a bracelet, so now she wear this every day.
The couple had a really relaxed, informal and fun ceremony. They’d prepared some of their own vows to go with this mood of the ceremony. There were lots of laughs and giggles and inside jokes, that all made their service that bit more personal and special.
Although many a photographer would scorn me for including this next shot as it’s not technically perfect, I just couldn’t NOT put it in! Freshly married, their first toast, faces filled with joy. Why let a little bit of blur get in the way of this memory?
The light at Doxford Hall was accentuated with the glass ceiling of their Orangery. The bright mood, light colour choices, and crisp winter air really did make this a proper White Wedding.
I persuaded the guests to come outdoors for some quick group shots. To reward them for their cooperation, we all did some fun silly pictures together, these are my personal favourites of this Wedding.
And to stick to the fun mood, we got the groomsmen to do a bit of piggy back horse-racing.
We got a few great photographs of Leanne and her Brother together. This one was off the cuff when someone (I think Leanne’s Mam) said something funny. These natural smiles are the best.
Shaun had two best men. They did a double-act speech which had all guests laughing hysterically. They even had a professionally printed gag poster made up just for Shaun. I’ve saved that picture for the couples’ private viewing first.
Alongside telling me about her new bracelet, Leanne also mentioned that my sneaky peak of two of her photographs featured inside this months Studio Newsletter had brought a tear to her eye. So Leanne, I’m sorry if this blog has messed up your make up completely, half way through today, but hopefully this set of preview memories will be something all of your guests and friends who couldn’t make it can share.
I’ll take this opportunity to wish you both all the very best in your marriage, keep laughing together on your journey through life, as husband and wife!
