The Grace Kelly Dress and the Christmas Vintage Wedding

I really enjoyed being part of Cara and Michael’s wedding celebrations. We met last summer to discuss how they’d like me to photograph their wedding. In this meeting we chatted about the detail Cara would be going into in the styling of her vintage themed wedding.  Being in the industry, it’s always a treat for me when I meet a committed bride in terms of styling, colour and themes.  Knowing how much this focus can affect any photo shoot -and this usually can be the difference for making it a good or a great set of pictures- I was already looking forward to seeing how all of the details would come together for a beautiful vintage Winter wedding.
What impressed me further was Cara and Michaels consideration to where we’d shoot their engagement photography.  They both thought revisiting where they got engaged would be suitable special and romantic.
Michael popped the question when they were both out walking Bella, they regularly do this at their local Whitley Bay beach, specifically, by The Links.  Here are some of the shots we got on the day.

Cara & Michael Loved the photography from this so much, they had me make up a fully customised Guestbook to use on the day of their wedding.  I can’t wait to see it filled with all of the guests messages.

So as the big day approached, I first headed to see groom Michael & his pals at a small, and lovely Bed and Breakfast – Taste & See.  Unusually, the boys were all ready to go, and impressively organised.

I then pressed on to Linden Hall to meet Cara and the rest of her party preparing.

One of Cara’s Bridesmaids is actually a Wedding Planner, she had all of the girls in perfect order so everyone could focus on the fun excitement of it all.  In no time at all Cara was ready to start getting on her dress, and it was undoubtedly perfect for her.  Aptly named “The Grace Kelly Dress”, Cara transformed into every bit the vintage star.

Bella was of course present at the wedding, and we all chuckled at her joining in with barks during the ceremony.  However Bella did remain quiet at one crucial part, the section of the ceremony where the celebrant asks if anyone knows of any lawful impediment.  I think its fair to say she is 100% on board with the marriage, and this can only be a wonderful sign of luck!

Singing Waiters

"My Way"Cara & Michael had arranged for Surprise Waiters to serenade the guests during the latter part of their meal.  By the end of their set, all guests were dancing around and joining in, it was a wonderful moment.  I can’t wait to surprise Cara & Michael with the video clips I caught of this.

With Dinner complete, and the couple taking a short break before some serious partying ensued, I ducked out.  I cannot wait to show the couple the rest of their work, and begin designing an album or book to match all of the detail of their beautiful wedding day.

  1. Wow Laura this was our first glimpse of the wedding photographs. They are amazing and I could not wait to see the rest. You really captured our personality and made the engagement shoot on the beach a real pleasure and we knew the wedding photogrpahs were going to be great fun. Thanks for the personalised guest book which everyone loved signing, Cara and Michael.
